Now that could get serious...my backyard would be first....but there is not a place around here that I would take someone saying....this is the best BBQ. Tin Roof's food is ok....but find them to be inconsistant. I like the place though.

To me, BBQ is always inconsistent. Even the places y'all rave about...if you get the butt end or the more fatty part or whatever, it will affect the taste and texture.

I usually like Spring Creek pretty well, more for the sides but the meat is good...but I ate there last week and the brisket I got was extra fantastic. Looked like the middle of the slab and almost no fat but super juicy, it was really good.

I've never been disappointed at SC. Don't really like Tin Roof. A lot has to do with their service and lack if value. Don't like Rudy's. County Line is ok. Straight off the something or other is only fair Mos is gross . To me the best around here. By far is Joes in Alvin.

Yes the Backyard is the best BBQ, even when it is not perfect. And no offense to anyone here, as is good music...good food is an opinion....except mine of course.
But going out...you should be paying for a Pit Master, not the fast food employee who happened to get hired at Dickeys or Spring Creek. SC does not season, they mass cook brisket on gas fired, commercial, rotisserie type cookers that they throw a couple of sticks of hickory in to. Then set a time clock. NOT BBQ. Dickeys is much the same, however, they are a franchised operation...so it could be worse, or could be better.

Yes Lockhart is indeed the heart of good BBQ. Smitty's to me, is essential Texas BBQ, just walking thru that screen door thru back into the pit area, ordering your meat and having them cut for you, right out of the pits. That is BBQ.
