Sometimes you read something so stupid, it makes you wonder who's making these decisions...

If you don't feel like reading, basically, the company that "won" the contract to "make" healthcare.gov is the same company that "won" the contract to "distribute" almost two billion dollars to Hurricane Sandy victims. Only 1.2 percent of the total funds have been given to victims. Disgusting.

My question is which congressman who approved this decision is on the board of directors for this company? Isn't that usually how these things work?

Dre,

Here's the "connection"

dailycaller.com/2013 /10/25/michelle-obam as-princeton-classma te-is-executive

First Lady Michelle Obama’s Princeton classmate is a top executive at the company that earned the contract to build the failed Obamacare website.

Toni Townes-Whitley, Princeton class of ’85, is senior vice president at CGI Federal, which earned the no-bid contract to build the $678 million Obamacare enrollment website at Healthcare.gov. CGI Federal is the U.S. arm of a Canadian company.

Townes-Whitley and her Princeton classmate Michelle Obama are both members of the Association of Black Princeton Alumni.

I haven't personally verified this information, but It's baffling how some people are surprised over crooked **** like this with this adminstration. It's like being shocked over every thug who commits an armed robbery or a rape or a murder.

Desensitization. It's what's getting the majority of the American public through until Nov 2016, when there's at least a light at the end of this horrific tunnel!. Emoticon

Practically speaking this kind of thing is nothing new. There was similar outrage in the last administration regarding Halliburton. Big corporations and government will always have such alliances.

Yep, bad news. Looked at their website - they are into EVERYTHING!

And, no, it's not the first time.

Cheney/Halliburton is a good example.

Does not excuse it or make it right.

Trouble is we take sides and excuse one and not the other.

They win. We lose.

I kinda figured the Halliburton thing was going to pop out on this.

To me, the big difference in the analogy is that Halliburton actually performed to the contract. They made money for sure, but they executed and did it right. Good service gets good pay. This CGI bunch hasn't done it right in two countries now.

That said, I think CGI, like Sebelius, is paying the price of bus tires from the political operatives in the WH. PPACA gave wide rule making authority to agencies who were instructed to hold off on that detail 'til after the '12 election. Make your own guess as to why (sticker shock, broken promises, etc), but mere months aren't enough time to roll out a sweeping initiative like this colossal Charlie Foxtrot. CGI didn't have 4 years to work on this....they should have, mind you......but the Pres needed to get reelected, so the grind didn't start until way too late. This ain't a glitch......it's a design failure caused by trying to cram 10 pounds of dung in a 5 pound bag.

You are not being honest if you think a massive failure like this would be tolerated in private industry. Shareholder activists' would hammer this like the fist of an angry God and wouldn't settle for low level sacrifices.

I'm thinking HB paid some fines for overbilling.

Not to mention that that entire occupation was a rip off imo.

Not trying to excuse this administration.

We all need to be honest with ourselves.

But we really can't compare HB to this company because HB had more options for excuses (and excessive spending) in their situation.

@Undecided:

Sorry, I'm referencing results here. Administrative errors? Probably.... might have been some intentional fudging. Heck, they even screwed up hiring some bad actors, too....same as the US Army (Abu Ghraib, Ft Hood).

But, my direct knowledge comes from my son, the OIC of battalion S4 (logistics) for two deployments, who tells me that he was always relieved to work with HB operations people as he could count on them. That's money well spent, no?

I get the questioning of the initiative, but that not Halliburton's call anymore than PPACA was CGI's call.

So, yeah, you may not be excusing the current administration...but you are throwing a red herring on the trail.

As I said, they failed to perform in the health care industry of two countries now. But, I give them some room here as they were on a fool's errand from the start.

Not a fan of Obamas but.....

The conspiracy is based on them both attending Princeton in the 80ssame and both being members of "Black Princeton Alumni" club?

Is there more to it? Or is this Glenn Beck connecting dots on his stupid chalkboard?

@GregButtle:

Well, there is certainly a connection that continued past college ...from the Daily Caller

Christmas photo....

Loading Image...

Michelle Obama’s relationship with Princeton classmate Toni McCall Townes-Whitley, whose company earned the no-bid contract to design the disastrous Healthcare.Gov Obamacare website, continued after the Obamas moved into the White House.

Townes-Whitley and her husband even enjoyed “Christmas with the Obamas” at the White House in December 2010, according to a Facebook album created by Townes-Whitley.

Although neither Michelle Obama nor Townes-Whitley has discussed their relationship, the Christmas event took place just seven months after Townes-Whitley joined CGI Federal as a senior vice president...

The Department of Health and Human Services reviewed only CGI’s bid for the Obamacare account. CGI was one of 16 companies qualified under the Bush administration to provide certain tech services to the federal government. A senior vice president for the company testified last week before The House Committee on Energy and Commerce that four companies submitted bids, but did not name those companies or explain why only CGI’s bid was considered.

Townes-Whitley, who went by her maiden name Toni McCall at the time, and her classmate Michelle Obama, née Michelle LaVaughn Robinson, are both members of the Association of Black Princeton Alumni, and worked together in two different radical student groups on campus.

Maybe this had no bearing....I don't know, honestly. But, this from Investors Business Daily, indicates a pattern of ineptitude....

Its performance on Ontario, Canada's health care medical registry for diabetes sufferers was so poor that officials ditched the $46.2 million contract after three years of missed deadlines, the Washington Examiner has reported.

CGI is also the company behind the $2.7 billion failed, Liberal-launched Canadian Gun Registry that was so plagued with corruption and mismanagement it brought on an investigation by Canadian Auditor General Sheila Fraser.

The company is deeply embedded in Canada's single-payer system, which is the direction President Obama's health care policies are driving us.

So, the connection is a little bigger than the Glen Beck/Blaze and Infowars tin foil stuff.

But, I stiil maintain that CGI was never going to pull this off given the constraints dictated by the political operatives in the WH. CGI stinks on ice, but they were dealt an impossible hand......and got paid handsomely for it.

This is very disappointing to read. I have programmers at my job that could've built this better!
